Community Building

The EFCSN strengthens our community as a whole by supporting smaller fact-checking organisations and organisations working in high-need areas. We also build spaces for collaboration between our members across the whole continent.

Conferences

The EFCSN hosts an annual conference which brings together key stakeholders in information integrity, including fact-checkers from across Europe, as well as policymakers and representatives from platforms. This is an opportunity to spotlight the challenges and wins in the fight against disinformation.

We also collaborate with the wider community of those working in the information integrity space in Europe, for example, co-hosting the Democracy Matters – Facts Matter Conference at the European Parliament in 2025.

Fact-Checking Incubator (Completed)

With the support of Porticus, the EFCSN created a mentorship program for young fact-checking organisations, pairing mentees with verified members of the EFCSN acting as mentors.

The program included training sessions to help the organisations expand their fact-checking capacities and establish best practices, as well as prepare them for the EFCSN’s application process. Participating mentees also received a grant and fee waivers to boost their professional development.

For both mentors and mentees, it provided networking opportunities and strengthened the cross-border connections between fact-checking organisations across Europe.
