We are proud to announce a major milestone for the EuroClimateCheck project: the shared database of climate-related fact-checks has now surpassed 1,000 verified articles. This makes it the largest cross-European climate fact-checking database ever created.
Built by the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) in collaboration with 25 member organisations across 15 European countries, this growing resource helps track how climate misinformation spreads across the continent – and how fact-checkers respond.
The database includes articles published in real time by EFCSN members and is now accessible to researchers, journalists, and policymakers through a dedicated API and downloadable datasets. Already, this data is being used to support research projects aimed at understanding disinformation trends, evaluating their impact, and shaping better-informed climate communication strategies.
A tool for collaboration, not duplication!
This milestone also marks progress toward one of the core goals of the EuroClimateCheck project: helping fact-checkers avoid repeating work, share insights more effectively, and strengthen cross-border collaboration. The database allows teams to see how similar narratives are emerging across different countries – and how others have already responded.
Powered by narratives and Science Feedback
We’re also excited to highlight how this work is supported by the narrative detection module developed by our partner, Science Feedback. This innovative tool helps cluster fact-checks into misinformation themes, allowing us to better understand the underlying narratives that travel across borders and time.

Narrative module allows us to track how narratives develop over time. The chart above presents actual data collected and processed by the platform that offers an overview of how the narratives are spreading.
This database is not just a milestone – it’s a foundation for deeper collaboration, smarter responses, and a stronger community of climate-focused fact-checkers. – Jakub Śliż, Project Manager
