Job Ad: Policy Officer

We are currently seeking a dedicated Policy Officer to lead our policy and advocacy work in Brussels starting January 1, 2026. If you know your way around European institutions and you are a communicative person who wants to work towards a healthier information space, this is the right job for you. 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, track, and analyse policy developments at the EU level, affecting online information integrity, platform regulation, and media freedom.
  • Provide timely policy briefings, updates, and strategic advice to the EFCSN Governance Body, Coordinator and Policy Taskforce.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with policymakers, regulators, civil society organisations, and institutional stakeholders.
  • Conduct or coordinate policy-related research and contribute to policy papers, responses to consultations, and advocacy documents.
  • Brief, train, and support EFCSN member organisations on policy and advocacy work on both EU as well as national levels.
  • Help shape the EFCSN’s advocacy strategy and contribute to the development of its policy positions.
  • Represent the EFCSN at relevant policy events, public consultations, stakeholder meetings, and institutional briefings.
  • Support the planning and execution of conferences and events.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in EU public affairs or policy and advocacy work on an EU level.
  • Strong understanding of the EU institutional landscape, legislative processes, and key policy frameworks affecting information integrity, fact-checking, and disinformation.
  • Strong understanding of the countering disinformation field.
  • Very strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with policymakers, stakeholders, and institutional actors.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
  • Good knowledge of French welcome.

  • Remote Working: The EFCSN is a remote-only organisation. However, this role will be based in or around Brussels.
  • Working Language: English

  • Interviews will be conducted via video call.
  • The position may involve occasional travel.
  • The salary will be negotiated between the applicant and the EFCSN.
  • The position is initially limited to one year.
