Job Ad: Communications Manager

The European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) is currently seeking a dedicated Communications Manager to lead our communications, outreach and media relations work, starting in January 2026. This is a fully remote, part-time position; applications from freelancers are welcome. If you are a great communicator that wants to shape and share the EFCSN’s messages to stakeholders, media, and content creators. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication strategies aligned with the EFCSN’s mission and goals to enhance visibility, engagement, and public trust.
  • Manage EFCSN’s communication channels, including newsletter, website, and social media accounts.
  • Manage media relations, including drafting press materials, maintaining media contacts, and proactively seeking opportunities for coverage.
  • Execute stakeholder communications, ensuring timely and effective outreach to partners and relevant institutions.
  • Monitor and respond to issues related to disinformation, supporting the organisation’s mission to promote reliable information and counter false narratives.
  • Produce high-quality content in English in cooperation with the EFCSN team and membership.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in strategic communications, PR, and/or journalism.
  • Very good command of WordPress and Canva.
  • Strong understanding of the countering disinformation field.
  • Very strong communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.

  • Remote Working: The EFCSN is a remote-only organisation, allowing for work from anywhere in Europe.

  • Interviews will be conducted via video call.
  • The position may involve occasional travel.
  • The salary will be negotiated between the applicant and the EFCSN.
  • This is a part-time position (~25 hrs/week), with flexibility to be carried out either as a freelance engagement or under an employment contract, depending on the candidate’s preference and eligibility.
