European fact-checking organisations wishing to join the EFCSN can submit applications throughout the month of May. The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2023 at midnight.
The EFCSN is an association of fact-checking organisations who commit to the standards of independence, transparency, and journalistic quality outlined in the European Code of Standards for Independent Fact-Checking Organisations. In order to join the network, fact-checking organisations must comply with all the requirements established in the Code, which was published in September 2022.
Members who are approved in the assessment process will be able to display an EFCSN badge on their websites, sending a sign to readers of their independence and integrity, while also gaining access to a network that offers opportunities for collaboration, training, and working collectively to hold policymakers and online platforms to account in the fight against misinformation.

A total of 29 European fact-checking organisations already applied to join the network in the first round of applications that opened in January 2023. A third application round will take place in October 2023.
