
Two EFCSN members are finalists for the 2026 Daphne Caruana Galizia Journalism Prize. The European Parliament announced the 10 finalists this week, chosen from 344 submissions. The prize honours outstanding journalism in the spirit of the murdered Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

EFE Verifica, the fact-checking unit of Spain’s Agencia EFE, is a finalist for “Noticias falsas, víctimas reales” (Fake news, real victims). The investigation documents the real people harmed by disinformation, putting faces and stories behind the damage that false claims can do.
Maldita.es: Depredadores en TikTok 2
Maldita.es is a finalist for “Depredadores en TikTok 2″ (TikTok Predators 2), an investigation that identified more than 1,300 child predators active on the platform.
About the Prize
The Daphne Caruana Galizia Journalism Prize is awarded each year by the European Parliament. This year’s winner will be revealed at the award ceremony in Strasbourg on 21 October 2026. You can read the European Parliament’s full announcement of all 10 finalists here.
